JIMMY DYCE, a well known face in the sheep fraternity passed away on Friday February 8, 2019, at his home in Prestbury, Cheltenham.
Jimmy worked for Morgan Milne, North Mains of Turin, for 21 years and in that time had considerable success in breeding Border Leicester sheep, taking many championships at the Royal Highland and other local summer shows as well as annual ram sales at Lanark, Kelso and Aberdeen.
He also had success with Marcus Findlay, Pitcox, East Lothian and Sidney Rose, Clova Home Farm, Lumsden. A move to England in 1986 saw Jimmy pick up more success, this time with Suffolk sheep where he managed the Springhill Flock for General Tabor, this along with 500 breeding half-bred ewes.
He enjoyed much success at the major summer shows and annual ram sales in the Cotswolds. Jimmy retired in 2000 to Prestbury, Cheltenham, where he enjoyed his garden and greenhouse along with making jams, chutneys and shortbread.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 6 at 10:30am within Cheltenham Crematorium, Prestbury.
