HARRISON and Hetherington Land and Property has welcomed the announcement by Scottish Borders Council that a new Local Development Plan (LDP2) is currently being formulated as it provides an ideal opportunity for land owners to expand their assets.
This new LDP2 will replace the current Local Development Plan (LDP) which was adopted on May 12, 2016 and will guide future development within the Scottish Borders for the period 2021-2026.
Commenting on the latest announcement by Scottish Borders Council agent, Douglas Orr, of H and H, said: “I would suggest that landowners who have potential sites that are not already allocated but would like them to be considered, should, in the first instance, talk to their agent who will in turn liaise with the planners.
“It is also worth noting that although the process is to call for sites then draft a plan prior to proposal and adoption, the new planning review may dispense with the process of drafts and instead go straight to the proposed plan in due course.”
In discussing the opportunities, Douglas said: “This really is a one-off chance for land and property owners, farmers and landowners in the Scottish Borders to nominate sites which may be considered for development.”
