TAKING PLACE this weekend, the Ayrshire Association of Young Farmers Clubs will host its 42nd Talent Spot competition.

Introduced by the West Region of Young Farmers Clubs, the competition sees a 10 minute performance from clubs all over the West Area, as well as a front of curtain competition, which was introduced in 2015, and was won by Kilmaurs and District Young Farmers Club, with The Ventriloquist, perfomed by Andrew Wilson, James Whiteford and Alexander Speirs. The trio then went on to win the West Area trophy.

Often, scenes are lifted from club concerts, which take place throughout the tail-end and the beginning of the year, however, some clubs create entirely new scenes in January, and perfect them until the competition in March.

The first competition in Ayrshire saw Crossroads Young Farmers Club take the winning trophy, while it was Mauchline Young Farmers Club which was placed first, most recently, in 2017.

Of the teams, the two placed first and second are then entered into the West Area competition, held at the end of March, along with one front of curtain act, not from the winning team, while a new Wild Card competition was introduced in 2014 , meaning that one final act, chosen from either Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Clyde and Central or Dumfries and Galloway districts, is given the chance to perform at the West Area competition.

Here are a number of videos from various concerts and talent spot entries over the last few years.
