INVERURIE Town Hall played host to this years' annual Young Farmers Northern Spotlights entertainment competition recently, with a full house being entertained by teams of local YFs.

Four teams took part in the competition in which they go head-to-head performing a 10-minute sketch of their choice to impress the judges. The judges for the evening were Rachel Anderson, former north region and national chairman, Scott Wilson, past west region and national chairman and Andrew Peddie, past national chairman and current SAYFC national president.

All four teams were of a high standard with Mearns JAC coming out on top, with their performance ‘Runaway’, earning them 85 1/3 points. Deer and District JAC came second with 76 1/3 points for ‘Cinderella’, and Echt YFC’s ‘Say Cheese’ was placed third on 75 2/3 points.

Also taking to the stage were Turriff and District JAC with their act, ‘Love Island’. Brechin and Forfar young farmers clubs joined in the fun with opening and closing acts to keep the audience entertained.

The Marr Salver, for the best individual act in the competition was awarded to Alex Stephen of Mearns JAC for his performance and in reserve was Joanna Foubister of Echt Young Farmers Club.

The competition was sponsored once again by W and W Mackie Ltd, Agricultural Agents and Haulage Contractors.

North region chairman Michael Gunn said: "Well done must go to all competitors for taking part, it takes a huge amount of effort and commitment from members and producers in the weeks running up to the competition."
