Dear Sir
Regarding the letter from Patrick Sleigh in the last edition of the SF. I wholeheartedly agree with everything he wrote. In our glen we are in the 2nd 5 year programme of a waders project and there are still very few, if any, lapwings, redshank etc. Why? Because of the badgers. We have been told that the planet is doomed if the bees aren't around to pollinate plants etc. and we know badgers dig up bumblebees nests to get at the grubs and honey.
As Patrick says if someone or somewhere has a problem then they should be allowed to deal with it. No one wants to see the extinction of any bird or mammal (barring the midge) but a happy medium is surely the way forward.
Yours sincerely,
Emma Paterson,
Auchlyne,
Killin
