Sir, – Whilst I applaud all steps towards co-operative working within agriculture, the benefits are clear to be seen and provide opportunity to build new markets and ensure value reaches primary producers.
I was however disheartened to read your article ‘Growing Scottish market for oat milk’. I’ve obviously missed a massive scientific breakthrough from SRUC in which they’ve managed to genetically modify oats to have udders, a story in itself!
On a serious note, and one in which SRUC should be very well aware, the marketing of plant juices may not be referred to as a milk. Not only are they nutritionally unmatched, they are ripping off a well-established Scottish dairy product.
It may be that SRUC are forgetting their rural roots as quickly as they are abandoning their rural colleges.
