AFTER a year's hiatus, due to last year's terrible summer, the final show of the summer season returned with a bang, welcoming a great turnout of dairy animals to be judged by the Isle of Bute's very own, James McAlister, of Bruchag Farm, Kingarth.

After a very successful summer, Robbie and Margo Scott were once again proud to take the champion ticket in the inter-breed dairy section, and that was with Clauchlands Outbound Blackbird, which is classified EX94. She is a sixth calver and was also inter-breed dairy champion at Catrine, Ayr and Stranraer this year.

In the beef section, judge, John Currie, of Southhook Farm, Kilmaurs, welcomed along the forever-committed Hunter family, who brought out some quality stock from their Hallrig Farm, Tarbolton.

Taking top plaudits here was another animal with a successful show season behind it, and that was Hallrig Outstanding, a February-born Limousin heifer by Lodge Hydro, out of Lodge Actress.

David Wilson, of Berryhill Farm, Moscow, had the honour of judging the show's prestigeous vintage machinery section, and he awarded the champion rosette to John McNae, Tarbolton, who was awarded the top ticket for his David Brown 770.
