A good day was had by all at United Auctions' Lairg mart for the annual Hill-type North Country Cheviot sheep show, where the judge, Lilias Elliot, Woodside, Yetholm, certainly had her work cut out for her, with more than 160 head of sheep forward.
However, she soon whittled through the section to find her supreme overall from the two-shear class, a home-bred ram backed by home-bred genetics from Tina Robertson's flock from Inkstack, Dunnet.
Reserve supreme was a home-bred three-crop ewe from Badanloch Estates, Kinbrace, brought out by flock manager Hugh Mackenzie. Female champion at the Highland and at the Black Isle Show, earlier in the year, she is by North Loch Naver Nomad and out of a ewe by Clebrig Jackanory.
