IT WAS another great day for the Black family at Saturday’s North of Fife Clydesdale Foal Show, when Ronnie and sons, Pete and Mike, brought out seven foals that were conceived, foaled and produced at Collessie, including the day’s supreme show champion, Lutterington Butterfly.

Owned by Harry Emerson, West Auckland, Butterfly is a May-born daughter of Collessie New Approach out of the Collessie Whinhill President-sired mare, Coachmills Lady Helen. She was overall champion at Lanark Foal Show and had stood filly foal champion and reserve overall at Kilmarnock.

Reserve supreme was the winning senior colt foal, Doura Navigator, from Charlotte Young, Hall Stud, Ayr. Bred in Northern Ireland, it had been reserve champion at Lanark and reserve colt foal at Kilmarnock. By Glebeview Sir Charles, he is out of the Carnaff Ambassador-sired mare, Ballinrees Lady Jane.

It was Charlotte’s father, Jim, who was in charge while Charlotte is overseas and he was also on the halter of the senior champion. This was the two-year-old filly, Glebeview Lady Izzy – another bred in Northern Ireland and by Glebeview Sir Charles. Izzy’s dam is Glebeview Cassie, a daughter of Doura High Spirit.

There was similar breeding behind the reserve senior champion. This was Auchengree Bethany from Matt Burks and Jacqueline Pettigrew, East Bank, Lenzie. A home-bred yearling filly by Dillars Top Gun, out of the Glebeview Sir Charles-sired mare, Glebeview Emma, Bethany has been unbeaten in the eight yearling filly classes she’s been in throughout this year.
