MORE THAN 1000 lots from steam engines to model tractors were delivered, sorted, numbered and sold at last weekend's collective sale as part of the Scottish Tractor World Show 2019, at Ingliston.

Auctioneer, Graham Burke, of Pentland Livestock, who conducted the sale, commented: "The auction was once again one the highlights of the weekend, which included the sale of vintage and classic tractors and vehicles, implements, tractor spares and sundries, plus all the paraphernalia that goes with it like scale models, literature and Border Fine Art sculptures.

"With the location of the venue next to Edinburgh Airport, potential buyers were able to travel with ease to the event and this ensured a large contingent of buyers from Ireland, as well as from all across the UK.

"We had a fantastic clearance rate and more quality lots could have been sold to advantage and as can be seen in the report some of the prices achieved for the top lots would be comparable with any other sale in the UK," added Mr Burke.

The highlight of the sale was a series 1 Land Rover from 1951. This had the distinction of being part of a charity drive to the top of Ben Nevis in 1984 and was in pretty good nick.

Valued at £19,500, the Landie pipped the 'agricultural' trade which was led by an £18,000 bid for a Ferguson Brown type A, which was built in 1938.
