A multi-breed youth development competition at United Auctions' Stirling centre last weekend, proved a huge success with two age sections and an open to compete in.
The event, aimed at youth development in the Aberdeen Angus, British Limousin and British Charolais Societies, comprised a multi-breed pedigree stockjudging competition of three classes from the three breeds for official judge, John MacGregor, Allanfauld. The Charolais Society used the competition as a Scottish qualifier for the breed's youth development finals in Northern Ireland in July.
The evening also included three demonstrations: Alex Brown, AHDB gave a presentation on carcase EBVs, Kay Adam, Newhouse, Glamis, highlighted her showmanship skills and Gareth Boyes, Ark Vet Centre, Lockerbie, pointed out what to look for when inspected bulls for breed sales.
