Hollyvale 1 Gracious 3 led the way from 87 entries of Herefords, at Borderway's Agri Expo, for first time exhibitor, Phil Massey, Bury, Lancashire.

This seven-month-old heifer is still on her mother, Hollyvale 1 Gracious, and sired by Dendor 1 Leroy, which is the herd's stock bull and has previously been shown a number of times.

Normanton 1 Sydney made his mark for William Livesey, Manor, The Hallow, Normanton Le Health, when he was given the tap out as overall reserve by the judge, James Graham, Portadown, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland. This home-bred September, 2019-born homozygous polled bull was brought out by stockman, Colin Soutter.

Sydney is a son of Normanton 1 Laertes, which was inter-breed champion at the Royal Highland in 2016 and out of Normanton 1 Jurana 7, with this being just her second calf.

Regular exhibitors, Tom and Dye Harrison, The Old Potato House, Eltringham, Mickley, Stocksfield, took home the blue and white sash with Moralee 1 Katy Perry.

This March, 2019-born heifer is by the sire of the year, the Danish bull, SMH King Size, and out of Richmount 1 Katie Perry, which has bred bulls to £6200.

Taking home reserve honours amongst the Herefords was Coley 1 Sebastian, from Heather Whittaker, Coley Walks, Norwood Green, Halifax, West Yorkshire.

This yearling bull is a son of the Danish bull, Rosenkaer Messi and out of Coley 1 Pippa, which is full sister to the herd's show cow.
