It was a day to remember for Kevin Watret, Maulscastle, Annan, when his yearling bull was tapped out to be supreme champion amongst the British Blues.

After a long wait on the day this, the last breed to kick off, was judged by Blair Comrie, Stonebyres, Lanark, who had his keen eye on Kevin's Solway View Niko, with the top two by the same sire but from different owners.

The winner is a home-bred embryo calf sired by Bedgebury Kent and out of Solway View Kesha, which was female champion at the Royal Welsh two years ago. This was Niko's first outing and is now set for Stars of the Future and the English Winter Fair.

Taking reserve male champion and then going on to be crowned overall reserve was Sunnybank Orlando, from Henry Jewitt, Gracies, Romaldkirk, Co Durham.

This nine-month-old embryo bull calf is by the same sire as the champion and out of Meadowrig Ladana, with this being her first crop of ETs. This is the first outing for Orlando and he is now set for the English Winter Fair.

The yearling heifer, Dymond Blue Nymphea, made her mark for Nigel and Candy Jenkinson, Alscott, Shebbear, Beaworthy, Devon, when she took top honours among the females. Another embryo calf, she is sired by Manchester Du Bois Remont and out of Drift Holly, which was also an embryo.

On her first outing, Netherton Ofilia was awarded the blue and white ticket among the females for John Hyslop and son, also John, Netherton, Abington, Biggar, South Lanarkshire.

This eight-month-old heifer calf is also an embryo, by the Genus bull, Attribut Du Fond De Bois, and out of Woodend Leanna, with this being her first crop of calves.
