Beef Shorthorn judge, Vic Watson, from Balliefurth, Nethybridge, Grantown-on-Spey, awarded the main plaudits to the male champion, Coxhill Norseman, from Lucinda Townsend, Coxhill, Moffat.

This seven-month-old bull calf is a son of Millerston Kasper, which was purchased at Stirling for 20,000gns, with this one being from his first crop of calves. His dam, Glenisla Flower, is 'the best cow in the herd' having bred calves to 5500gns.

Reserve honours went to Beautry Blythesome Nutmeg, from Gail and Stuart Currie, Beautry House, Settle, North Yorkshire. Their seven-month-old heifer is a daughter of Stonehills Jackpot, which was purchased privately from Jeff Riby, and out of Croxtonpark Blythsome Parsley, which bred the male champion at the Great Yorkshire in 2016.

Headline Nobunaga excelled for Allan Jackson and Senga Hamilton, Woodyett, Lanark, when he was awarded the reserve male championship.

This March-born bull is a son of Tofts Atlas and out of Fingask Rosette Hester. Nobunaga is a full brother to Headlind Rosetta Moneypenny, which was reserve female last year here.

Reserve female was an April, 2019-born heifer from Andrew and Caroline Ivinson, Sandwick, Ousby, Penrith, Cumbria. Their Sandwick Nowthen Floss is a daughter of Millerston Jester, which is a former Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire champion, and out of Sandwick G'Day Floss.
