The judge, Katreen Malone, Pitcairn, Lochgelly, Fife, gave her top tickets to Falleninch Obby and Newlogie Princesslaika as her top choices from the Charolais classes.

Falleninch Obby, from Andrew Hornall, Falleninch, Stirling, took the senior trophy home . This July, 2018-born bull – which is set to be sold in Stirling in February – has been out many times through the summer, taking champion and reserve at a few local shows. Obby is a son of Fairway Jefferson, which was purchased with his dam at the Fairway dispersal for 10,000gns, the top price lot that day, and has bred sons to 12,000gns. His dam is Falleninch Gabby.

The second prize bull in the same class, Elgin Obama, from Mathew and Carolyn Milne, Kennieshillock, Lhanbryde, Elgin, went on to be reserve senior.

This yearling has been unbeaten in his class previously and is a son of the 5000gns Carwood Lochness, with the dam being Elgin Jessie-J.

Leading the way in the juniors was Newlogie Princesslaika from AJR Farms, managed by Andrew and James Reid, Milton of Collieston, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, with the help from stock man, Eoin Cumming.

The 10-month-old heifer is bred from an ET imported from France and is a daughter of Harestone Jacquard, which was the Royal Highland champion in 2018 and her dam, Laika, is a 'good breeding French cow'.

Bassett Piper took the blue and white sash among the juniors for Richard Hassell and Rachel Wylie's Brailes Livestock, who keep their show cattle with Richard and Carol Rettie. This six-month-old bull calf was purchased from Jean Atkinson and is set to be shown next summer. He is a son of Whitecliff Lacroix and out of Basset Hifi.
