The 180-strong Colvend herd from Boreland of Colvend, Dalbeattie, owned by Steven and Tracey Roan, has won the overall championship in the Scottish Holstein Club’s annual herds competition.
Andrew Roan – Steven and Tracey’s son – also picked up the award for the best young person who most impressed the judge, Kevin Wilson, of the Warnelview herd, from Cumbria, on tour of inspection.
Top showmen, father and son duo Brian and Michael Yates, from East Logan, Castle Douglas, received seven commendations for cattle from their Logan herd.
