It was a cracker of a day for Charlotte Young, of Hall Farm, Ayr, who trotted off with both the male and female championship titles at this year's National Stallion Show, held at Morris Equestrian Centre, in Fenwick.

Standing as supreme champion was the three-year-old stallion, Doura Magic Touch. He is certainly no stranger to the limelight having claimed the Cawdor Cup here as a yearling, retaining the supreme title here for three years' in succession and standing as overall champion at last year's Royal Highland Show.

Bred by Northern Irish breeder, Victor Millen, he is by Glebeview Sir Charles and out of the Carnaff Ambassador-sired mare, Ballinrees Lady Jayne.

There were more celebrations to be had for the Doura team when its mare, Littleward Megan, came out on top as female champion before stepping up to be reserve supreme.

A daughter of Arradoul Balvenie, out of Littleward Lady Athenia, she stood as reserve female at last year's Royal Highland and was bred by Charlies Carrick, Easter Littleward, Stirling.

Charlotte also dominated the senior stallion class with her six-year-old Doura Aird Ambition – also a previous Cawdor Cup winner. Sired by Doura Kingmaker and out of Lagavar Blossom, he was bred by Andrew Love, of Stranraer.

The prestigious Cawdor Cup this year went the way of Northern Ireland breeders, Geoffrey and Lesley Tanner, showing their home-bred yearling colt, Downhill Master Tom – which also claimed the reserve male rosette. A previous champion at Co Londonderry's Foal Show, last December, he is a son of Eskechraggan Ernest and is out of Garleton Betty.

Reserve for the Cawdor Cup was the yearling colt, Muirton Spirit, from from Perthshire breeders, Tommy Clark, Abbey Farm, Madderty. His April, 2019-born colt was bred by Sandra Henderson, Northern Ireland, and is a son of Muirton Spirit and out of Croaghmore Roxy.

This was only his third outing – he secured the supreme foal title at the recent Kilpatrick Foal Show, in January, and claimed reserve amongst the foals at the Winter Fair, last November.

Taking reserve honours for the female championship was Lutterington Butterfly – a two-year-old from West Auckland-based owner, Harry Emerson and brought out by the Black family, of Newton of Collessie, near Cupar, Fife.

This daughter of Collessie New Approach is bred from the 2018 Winter Fair leader and also that of seven other foal shows, in the form of Coachmills Lady Helen.

John McMillan, from the Isle of Bute, was victorious in the Clydesdale gelding championship with the April, 2016-born Mill Geordie. By Dillars Top Gun, he is out of Ingleston Grace and bred by Alloway-based David McGill.

In the Highland pony ring, the championship went to Susan Wardrop's Carlung Winston, from North Drummilling, West Kilbride. This home-bred three-year-old stallion is by Carlung Jed and out of the 2016 Royal Highland Show female champion, Nymph of Carlung.

Reserve Highland was the eight-year-old gelding, Bowmore Ben Cruachan, from John and Jacqueline Bonar. He is a son of Moss-side Iain Mor and out of Bowmore Lady Laura.

Donna Lochtie, Glenfarg, secured the standard and breed championship honours in the Shetlands with her 14-year-old mare, Hawkdale Dixie. A daughter of Roseremus of Transy and out of Hawkdale Destiny, Dixie has secured a number of championship honours including the 2015 Royal Highland female title and reserve overall, as well as standing supreme Shetland at the 2017 Black Isle Show.

Taking reserve honours in the standard Shetlands was Eynhallow Stud's Eynhallow Dutch Prince, brought out by Brenda and John Laing, from Perth. Sired by Warrackston Bob and out of Eynhallow Bloom, this home-bred eight-year-old stallion stood as junior champion at the 2015 Highland, overall champion at the 2018 Great Yorkshire and supreme at last year's Central Scotland Shetland Pony Group's spring show.

Reserve overall Shetland honours went to the miniature champion, Richard Clarke's Halstock Cam's Warrior, from Bonshaw Farm, Stewarton. This nine-year-old stallion is a son of Ulverscroft Tot Campari and out of Wincy of Knowe.

The reserve miniature rosette was awarded to Lynda Cochrane's three-year-old filly, Alichbrae Bambi. She is a daughter of Kerswell Merlot and is out of Buxted Beaujolais.

In the Mountain and Moorland section it was the Nicoll Show Team's Romanno Riverdance that secured the championship title. This two-year-old colt is by Stanley Grange Regal Heights and out of the Mirage dam.

The Barr family secured the reserve rosette with its 12-year-old small stallion, Trefynys Teccata. He is a son of Wilcrick Sandlewood and is out of Gwauniarll Tiffany.
