The sun shone down on the sheep lines and especially on Hannah Sloan, bringing out sheep for her fiancé Ali Jackson, Annan, when they won both the supreme overall and the reserve with a British Rouge and Beltex, respectively,

The sheep, which were paraded by Hannah while Ali was assisting with pedigree bulls at Carlisle, were led by the one-crop Rouge ewe, Knighton Wagomama. She was bred by the late Percy Tait and purchased at the flock dispersal at Carlisle in October, 2020. Sired by Tullyvallen Shumacher and out of Knighton Sugarbabe, she is no stranger to the show ring having claimed the reserve inter-breed honours at the Royal Lancashire, and reserve overall at last year's Great Yorkshire Show.

Commenting on his choice of champion, inter-breed judge Graham Burke of Pentland Livestock, Angus said: "It was an extremely difficult decision as there were a lot of good sheep forward that were worthy of the championship title.

"However, the Rouge showed real character and is an extremely well-balanced ewe considering she is still nursing. She is very alert, with ring presence which drew my ewe towards her – a worthy recipient of the championship title."

Standing reserve to the Rouge was Ali's home-bred Beltex gimmer, Tiptop Geri ET. Previously unshown, she is a daughter of Woodies Emperor ET and out of the Cranes Alligator-sired ewe, Tiptop Destiny ET.
