Contrary to what was believed to be first ever at the Royal Highland Show – the same home producing both the champion and reserve winning lambs in the commercial section which went on to lift the top two awards, it has come to our attention that the same feat was achieved in 1986.
At this year's Ingliston event, Andrew and Hilary Morton, daughter Kirsty and son Andrew, Lochend, Denny, took silverware for the supreme and the reserve in the commercial section with two pairs of home-bred Beltex cross ewe lambs.
In 1986, Hugh Lamont, Paddockhall, Linlithgow, also produced the champion and reserve winners in the commercial sheep section with two pens of three March-born Texel cross lambs, that had been bred by David McKerrow and his late brother, John, Grougfoot, Bo'ness.
