Repeating her champion of champions win at Carnwath Show in 2016 as a heifer, Archie Lindsay’s Limousin cow, Clydeside Lulu, came back out in top form to secure the same accolade six years later.

Now a seven-year-old cow, this daughter of Garmon Heros, out of Clydeside Disco, is part of the Lindsay family’s herd at Kepscaith Farm, Whitburn. She was shown alongside her Pointhouse Potter-sired heifer calf, Clydeside Sulu, by Archie and daughter Amy.

Judging the champion of champions was Matthew Hamilton, Woolfords, West Calder, who selected the Clydesdale winner as reserve overall. That was the Tennant family’s yearling colt, West Forth Travis, a son of the American import, Dreamliner.

In the busy sheep lines, the Texel champion, a gimmer from Allan Campbell, Strawfrank, Carstairs, was awarded the inter-breed title, judged by Jimmy Warnock, Sandilands. She’s a daughter of Allanfauld Dances with Wolves, out of a past winner at Carnwath, Strawfrank Beyonce.

Reserve overall sheep was the best from the non-accredited section, a two-crop Blackface ewe shown by Finlay Robertson, The Beeches, West Calder. Sired by an £1800 Glenrath, she had stood fifth in her class at the Highland.

The dairy section was well supported, with the winner, Grangehall Pety Tootsie, coming from Andrew and Euan Lawrie, Grangehall, Pettinain. This third calver, by Siemers Mogul Pety, is projected at 14,000litres and is due to calve in November.
