East Kilbride Show celebrated its 250th Anniversary with a spectacular event at its new home of West Nerston House having moved here last year for a ‘Covid Show’.

With lots to see and do throughout the day, it was nevertheless the Clydesdale yearling filly, Doura Sorrento, that stole the show when she landed the overall champion of champions accolade. Exhibited by William and Janice Dunbar, she is sired by Doura Magic Touch and out of Collessie Flash Girl.

Reserve supreme was Yondercroft Ryder, a 17-month old Charolais bull from Meikle Farms at Darvel, shown by grandson Frazer Goldie. Young Mark Bryson (17) also won the showmanship classes, while his cousin Calum Gray and uncle David Gray, topped the calves with Grayridge Chief Erle, a February-born heifer bred from Grayridge Denver Erle.

Supreme sheep was Duncan Whyte’s two-crop home-bred Border Leicester ewe from the Mearns flock, based at Newton Mearns. She is by Clola Double Deal, out of a home-bred dam by Fordafourie Festival, and won the reserve overall at the breed’s 125th Anniversary show last year at Carlisle.
