Leading the Hereford Calf Show at Agri-Expo, was Heather Whittaker’s Coley 1 Alexander, a yearling bull shown by Andrew Hughes.
On its second outing after winning the junior male championship at the Moreton in Marsh National Polled Show, this son of Dendor 1 Sherlock, out of Kammerherre Kati, is also entered for the Christmas Calf Show at Shrewsbury in December.
The female champion was selected as reserve overall, by Judge Twm Jones. That was Midford 1 Ravette 1, from William Awan, Upper Midford, Bath. One of the first calves by Kinglee 1 The New One, this January-born heifer calf is out of the Irish-bred Gouldingpoll 1 Ravette 738. She’s another heading to the Shrewsbury Calf Show in December.
The reserve female was Grifford 1 True Fashion, a 10-month-old heifer from Nick Griffiths, Pear Tree Farm, Bickford. She is a daughter of Gouldingpoll 1 Stockman, out of Greenyards 1 Truelove.
Second best in the males was the junior male champion, the January-born bull calf, Panmure 1 Alexander, from the Cant family’s herd at Easter Knox, Arbirlot. This Romany 1 Thor son is out of Panmure 1 Blessing.
George Harvey’s Harveybros 1 Crocus Aurora finished reserve junior female champion on her first outing, while the reserve senior female was the Thorne family’s Studdolph 1 Barbie.
Reserve junior male was Heather Whittaker’s Coley 1 Alsace, with Romany 1 Aztec, from the Wilsons at Cowbog, Kelso, taking the reserve senior male title.
The best pair went to the Harveys’ Harveybros 1 Crocus Aurora and Harveybros 1 Crocus Absolut Rose, while the Harrisons from Eltringham, Stocksfield, won the group of three titles. The best young handler was Lottie Wilson.
