Peebles has always been one of the best agricultural shows of the summer and this year it is looking to go one better as host of the National Limousin Grand Prix while also staging an inaugural Shetland Pony Derby.
Entries for the race are welcomed on the day of the show – Saturday, August 17, at Nether Horsburgh, Cardrona. There is also pig racing with other races for Young Farmers and a mounted fancy dress competition.
Outwith the usual quality show of beef and dairy cattle, sheep, horses and donkeys, the Royal Highland Education Trust will be explaining how milk is produced.
Visitors will get a chance to make their own smoothies, pedal-powered on bikes, and meet the Velvet Hall Alpacas.
And who could resist the various competitive classes for dogs to include the dog or bitch with the waggiest tail; dog or bitch with the most beautiful eyes; and golden oldie along with several other breed classes.
