Claiming top spot at East Kilbride Show was the third calver, Knowlesmere Sol Diamond, from Grayridge and Overside Holsteins.
The supreme, owned by David Gray of Grayridge Holsteins, East Kilbride and Hugh and Andrew Neilson of the Overside herd from Strathaven, is a daughter of Stantons Chief, out of Knowlesmere Sol Diamond VG88. Calved in April, she is giving 55 litres per day.
Reserve was the commercial beef champion, Jack, from Lucy Clark, West Shawtonhill, Chapelton.
Leading the sheep lines was the champion Beltex, a gimmer by Clary Fly-Boy from Jim Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill, Chapelton. She was reserve at Newmilns.

Dairy cattle (Judge: A Lawrie, Myremill, Maybole). Champion and champion of champions – Grayridge and Overside Holsteins, Drumtall, with the third calver, Knowlesmere Chief Diamond VG87, out of Knowlesmere Sol Diamond VG88 and sired by Stantons Chief. Previously unshown, she calved in April, and is giving 55 litres. Reserve – Boyd Farming, Letterickhills, Cambuslang, with the fresh third calver Letterickhills Casper Rose VG88, which is giving 58 litres. Commercial (Judge: M Steel, Wester Mye, Buchlyvie). Champion, reserve overall and reserve – L Clark, West Shawtonhill, Chapelton, with Jack, a 16-month-old Limousin cross bullock. Purchased at the Oban calf sale in December from Hugh Mackinnnon, Tiree. He is sired by Ampertaine Lance and was champion at Biggar. Reserve from the same home was an eight-month-old Limousin cross heifer, sired by Longhirst Narcos out of the former champion winning show cow West Shawtonhill Lora.
Highland (Judge: M Steel). Champion – H Walsh, Glasgow City Council, with the three-year-old home-bred heifer, Susan Ruadh 67 of Pollok, a daughter of Prionnsa Dubh 2 of Balmoral on her first outing. Reserve – A and A Clotworthy, Inveralton fold, Kilmaurswith the two-year-old heifer Magaidh 39 of Pollok, purchased as a calf. She is by Cliadhamh Mor of Balmoral, out of Magaidh 22 of Pollock, and stood first at Stewarton.
Texel (Judge: K Morton, Lochend Farm, Denny). Champion – W Boyd, Dechmont, Cambuslang, with a gimmer on her first outing. She is sired by the £1800 Dechmont Figo that was sold at the Ram Rendezvous in Stirling. Reserve – R Close, Nethermill, Langbank with a previously unshown tup lamb by the 26,000gns Seaforde Egyptian Warrior bred from Teiglum ewe purchased privately. Ewe – W Baird. Ewe lamb, tup lamb – R Close. Gimmer, shearling, ram, group – W Boyd.
Border Leicester (Judge: K Morton). Champion and reserve – D Whyte, Newton Mearns, with a gimmer sired by Intock Island out of a gimmer by Clola Double Deal. Third at the Highland and champion at Dunblane and Fenwick. Reserve was a ewe also by Clola Double Deal out of a Fordafourie Festival-sired ewe. Reserve at Dunblane and Fenwick. All classes – D Whyte.
Blackface (Judge: W Bennie, Merkins, Alexandria). Champion – G and S Donald, Windhill Farm, Sandford, with a home-bred two-crop ewe out of a £5000 Elmscleugh-sired ewe and sired by a son of the £35,000 Dalchirla. Reserve – Firm of Shawhead, Douglas, Lanark, with a gimmer on her first outing, bred from a £1600 High Staward ewe. Ewe, ram, ewe lamb, tup lamb – G and S Donald. Group – G Frame. Gimmer, bred – Firm of Shawhead.

Mules (Judge: W Bennie). Champion – J Guild, Laight, New Cumnock with a Scotch Mule gimmer purchased privately from the Walkers of The Tower. Champion at Ayr, New Cumnock, Dalrymple and reserve at Fenwick. Reserve – Firm of Shawhead with a ewe lamb sired by a son of the £65,000 P1 Riddings. All classes – J Guild.

Beltex (Judge: K Morton). Champion and reserve – J Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill Farm, Chapelton with Mid Shawtonhill Jane, a gimmer that won in her class at Biggar, was reserve at Newmilns, and stood fourth as a lamb at the Highland. An ET, she is bred from Shawtonhill Dottie and sired by the 9000gns Clary Fly-Boy. Reserve was the shearling tup, Mid Shawtonhill Justice bred from Hackney Gina and sired by Clary Fly-Boy.
