Sir, – Back in August 22, 2015 you were kind enough to print my letter in the opinion section headed 'Keeping the dairy crisis in public domain'.
Sir, – As we prepare to leave the European Union, it is clear that the farming sector will be greatly impacted by this change. Smart, practical and reasoned approaches will be vital as we draw up a new UK Food, Farming and Environment Policy.
SIR, – I read with interest the contribution from Peter Chapman (Scottish Conservative shadow secretary for Rural Economy & Connectivity) to last week's Scottish Farmer. In summary, Mr Chapman's argument was trust him, Ruth Davidson, David Mundell, and ultimately Theresa May and the UK Government to deliver a safe landing for Scottish agriculture outside of the European Union.
SIR, – I have just watched the final episode of The Mart and the whole series has been excellent entertainment due both to the BBC and those who took part.
Sir, – I would have loved to have attended the NFUS conference last week. Work commitments, alas, forbade me.
SIR, – In the EU referendum, the Leave campaign said that the Conservative farming minister, George Eustice 'told farmers at the launch of Farmers for Britain that the UK government will continue to give farmers and the environment as much support – or perhaps even more – than they get now”.
WHILE it might not be fair to liken two of the country’s leading politicians to these nursery rhyme characters, there were certainly plenty of promises of arguments and battles and allusions to toys being thrown out of prams last week.
