A 304kg Limousin cross Balnaboth, topped the bullocks per kg at 324.00p, while a lead price per head of £1840 was paid for a 694g Simmental cross from Barbarafield.

Heifers sold for 331.90p for a 452kg Limousin cross from Encrogo, or £1750 for an Angus cross from Mosshall.

Dairy bullocks (38) and young bulls (21) cashed in at 215.28p and 236.68p, with the former selling to 260.00p for a 400kg Montbeliarde cross from Holton, or to £1300 for a 548kg Holstein Friesian cross from Kirkland.

Top prices amongst the young bulls were 272.20p for an Angus cross from Kittymuirhill or £1600 for a Charolais cross from Middle Ballat.

The 79 rearing cattle saw milk calves sell for £800 for a pen of four Simmental cross bullocks from Tulloch Farms.

Heifers sold for £1690 twice – for an Angus cross Messrs Slack, Cockleybank, Brampton and a British Blue cross from Messrs Holliday and Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton.

The entry of 252 weaned cattle sold to £1400 for a Limousin bull from Messrs Gott, Prospect House, while stirks peaked at £1390. £1360 for 13-month-old Charolais bullocks from Messrs Ross, Romesbeoch.

Messrs Dun, Jeanfield, Lanark, topped the calf trade at £600 with a British Blue bull.

A pen of Mule ewes from Logie Farm, Dingwall, topped the 1334 ewes ate £182 and a small entry of gimmers peaked at £102 for Cheviots from Tote House, Isle of Skye. A Cheviot from Sandside Cottage, Tomatin, led the entry of 71 rams at £640.

Feeding sheep (109) sold for £94 for a Texel cross wedder from Silverwells, Edderton.

The dispersal of Mrs J Corbishley's dairy goat herd from Newton Arlosh, proved a huge success through C and D Auction Marts, achieving a 100% clearance and a top price of £225 for a British Alpine female due in February.

Similarly aged and bred females sold to £122.00 with in-kid goatlings reaching £118.00 twice and British Toggenburg type female kids to £105.00.

Meat goats also sold well with British Cashmere cross young bucks to £105.00 twice and British Sannen cast bucks to £100.00.

Meat-bred kids reached £68.00.

Huntly

Some 75 store, breeding, and OTM cattle along with 1362 store sheep were forward for United Auctions' sale where bullocks sold to 335p for a 170kg Stabiliser cross from Hardgate, Bonnykelly, or £1570 for a pair of 537kg Limousin crosses from Mains of Druminnoir, Rhynie.

Charolais from Ernan, Strathdon, topped the heifers at 301.1p for 435kg entries or £1470 for a pair of 510kg crosses.

Breeding cattle peaked at £2800 for a Limousin cross cow with Stabiliser cross steer calf at foot from Hardgate.

The top price amongst the store lambs was £116.50 paid for Texel crosses from Gordonstown, Clatt.
