Strong demand for pedigree females at the Northern Ireland Simmental Cattle Breeders’ Club’s show and sale, at Dungannon, resulted in a lead price of 5200gns paid for three-year-old Woodford Patricia 3, from the dispersal of the late Thelma Gorman, Woodford.
A daughter of Breaghey Diamond, out of a Ballintlea King daughter, she sold with her five-month-old Dermotstown Delboy-sired bull calf, and back in calf to Delboy, to Jason Whitcroft, of the Whitdrum herd, Armagh.
Next best at 3600gns was the reserve female champion, Slieve Croob Hot Chick, from Niall Robb, Ballynahinch. This 20-month-old by the 20,000gns Auchorachan Wizard, is out of a Clonagh Tiger Gallant daughter and sold to John and Sandra Middleton from Creevagh, Co Londonderry.
The same bidders paid 3500gns to secure the 17-month-old Owenskerry Helga, by Dermotstown Delboy, from the Cowan family from Fivemiletown.
