More than £135,000 changed hands at Patrick and Kirsty Sowerby’s dispersal of the Oakbank Swaledale flock from Barras, when 200 females sold to a top of £6000.
The sale of 200 head – from gimmers up to 10-year-old ewes – at Kirkby Stephen Auction Mart, was topped by a three-crop Del Boy-sired ewe carrying twins which sold to Craig and Matt Ridley, Haltcliffe.
Just behind on £5000 was a four-crop ewe by the same sire which also sold due with twins when purchased by Mark Ewbank, Intake, Harrogate.
Two lots sold for £4500 with the first being a three-crop Elvis-sired ewe carrying triplets, purchased by Messrs Robinson, Catlow.
A five-crop ewe by a Bull and Cave ram and carrying a single lamb made the same money selling to Jack Hallam, Whitby. One-crop ewes sold to £4000 for another by a Bull and Cave ram, carrying twins, while gimmers peaked at £1800 for an Oakbank Harry daughter.
Averages: 200 ewes, £675.31
