Muirkirk Show may not be the biggest of agricultural events, but what it lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality, with a top notch beef calf shown by Shona Stevenson, of the family firm at Carbello/Sunnyside, crowned supreme and a stylish Blackface ewe lamb from David Morrison, taking reserve overall.
Supreme was the Laird family's 16-month-old black Limousin cross heifer calf shown by daughter Shona Stevenson, Carbello/Sunnyside. Their show stopper which was champion at Coylton and Dalrymple was bought at Lanark, in March.
David Morrison's Blackface ewe lamb from Dalwyne, Barr, also proved a star, winning the breed championship and the reserve overall with a daughter of a £52,000 Crossflatt.
