AN unshown pedigree Texel ewe lamb purchased at last year's Aberdeen Christmas Classic at Thainstone, certainly made her presence felt at the Staffordshire County Show, for Stoke on Trent breeders, Paul and Anna Johnson, as not only did she win the breed honours, but also made up part of the winning inter-breed group of three.
The couple who own the Corriecravie flock, from Stoke on Trent, have always read the reports of the show in The Scottish Farmer, and last year made the effort to go, with the result being they bought the lamb, a substitute entry from Robbie Wilson's Milnbank flock from Turriff.
A daughter of Strathbogie Yes Sir, out of a ewe by Castlecairn SAS Commander, she first collected the breed championship and then went on to be part of the winning inter-breed group of three, along with the stock ram, Cornmore Young Hustler and the second prize gimmer from Corriecravie.
For the overall sheep championship, she stood third in the line up.
