All major prize winners at the National Stallion Show were commended for adhering to the shoeing guidelines set out by the Worship of Farriers and Farriers Registration.

That was the good news story from Allan Ferrie, a Fellow of the Worship of Farriers Company of Farriers, and Jim Balfour an Associateship of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, who said that all major prize winners were shod in a proper manner with flat shoes, no lateral couping heel and shod full length to inside heel.

They pointed out the horses being shown were a credit to the farriers setting the standard.

“We hope in the future all show organisers can look at this as a way forward. Adhering to this has proved that there isn’t a necessity for imbalance on the hind limbs,” they said.
