IT was a sad day for all concerned when the Dumbreck Holstein herd from Udny was dispersed at Carlisle, following the tragic accident of owner Philip Reid.
The cattle, which averaged 10,585kg on a twice daily milking regime, sold to a top of £1800 to average just short of £1000 for 205 head.
Sale leader was a heifer by Emmark Mammoth, which sold giving 39kg per day. She was purchased by W Hesketh and Sons, Old Grange, Hutton, Preston, who also went to 1650gns for another by Mammoth, calved in April and served to Clear Echo Jettie.
Kilmarnock breeders, John Goldie and Sons, Buistonhead, Kilmaurs, bought two at 1700gns including a milking heifer by Bomaz Homestead. She was at the end of her first lactation and due again to L Acres Shot Trigger.
Also heading on to Buistonhead, was a three-year-old by the same sire which sold due with her second to Trigger.
