PRICES peaked at 3200gns at the January dairy sale in Dungannon, where the entry of 105 cows and heifers saw a 98% clearance and an average of £1866.
Claiming the day’s top price was Kilvergan Doorman Ethel ET, bred by Stephen Haffey, and sons Timothy, David and Aaron, from Lurgan. Sired by Val Bisson Doorman ET, she is a potential 10th generation VG or Ex-classified cow having been bred from the Ex94-2E show cow, Kilvergan Duplex Ethel 2. Six weeks calved and producing 30kg per day, she was snapped up by pedigree breeder, Richard Watt from Augher, County Tyrone.
The Haffey family also sold the second highest priced lot at 2900gns. Kilvergan Elmo Melanie, by the Gillette Windbrook son DE Volmer Elmo, and out of Kilvergan Lavanguard Melanie was bought by Stephen Cargill, Parkgate, Ballyclare.
