A FLYING trade for Blackface females at Lanark saw a top price of 7200gns and a further six lots sell at 4000gns or more.
Leading the sale was a gimmer from David Morrison, Dalwyne, Barr, purchased by Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk. By Brokeleg - a homebred tup bred the same way as £50,000 Dalwyne - and out of a ewe by Dalwyne Buffalo, she sold carrying twins to a £52,000 Crossflatt.
On the other side of the equation, Auldhouseburn sold the second top priced lot at 5800gns. This was a gimmer by the £90,000 Blackhouse, out of a ewe by £65,000 Auldhouseburn. She sold carrying twins to the £160,000 record priced Dalchirla to Paul Staward, High Coulson, Hexham.
A partnership bid between David Murray, Lurgan, Aberfeldy and new breeder, Craig Gamage, Stonebyres, Lanark, went to 5200gns for a Nunnerie gimmer from Alistair and David Macarthur. She is by a £14,000 Dyke and sold carrying twins to the home-bred ram, Wisecrack.
Averages saw 33 ewes level at £1752.86; 42 gimmers at £1503.50 and five ewe hoggs at £1008.
