A GIMMER from the Wight family's Midlock flock secured the championship before selling for the top price of £600 at a show and sale of Blackface females at Dingwall and Highland Marts, last week.
Getting the tap for the top spot from judge, A Williams, from Ellagro on the Isle of Lewis, was a daughter of a £12,000 Aitkenhead carrying twins to the £90,000 Dalchirla. She sold to JD Davidson, Waterside, Bridge of Alford, for the top price of £600.
The Wights also produced the top price Bluefaced Leicester entry when a ewe hogg by the J21 Midlock Bronco, bred from a ewe by the C2 Hewgill, sold for £500.
The reserve Blackie champion, the second prize gimmer from Crackaig, went on to sell for £400 to J MacMillan, East Durran, Castletown. Sired by a £50,000 Dalwyne, she was due with a pair to a £6000 Auldhouseburn.
