ALL classes continued at recent rates when Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 385 store cattle last week, where Simmentals from Refouble, Glenferness, topped the trade at 313.7p per kg for a pair of 255kg bullocks and 298.5p for a pair of 268kg heifers. 
Averaging 236.9p, the 209 bullocks reached £1310 for a pair of 698kg Aberdeen-Angus crosses from Raitcastle, Nairn, while the 166 heifers levelled at 229.8p and reached £1240 for a 660kg Simmental cross from Tomcluich, Nairn. 
Prime and feeding cows (29) averaged 119.9p having peaked at 157.5p for an Angus cross from Strathglass Farms, Beauly, and £1270 for a 820kg Simmental cross from Culmaily Farm, Golspie.

Ayr
A REDUCED number due to weather conditions met a trade similar to recent weeks at Craig Wilson’s sale of 434 store cattle. 
Averaging 234.7p per kg or £965.06, the 174 beef-bred bullocks sold to  £1320 for Limousins from Deerpark and East Polquhirter, as well as 303.5p for the same from Spring Field, Arran. 
Of the 235 heifers, which averaged 227p or £818.40, a British Blue from Gass, Straiton, led at £1210 with a pen of eight Simmentals from Borland making 269p. 
A smaller offering of 543 store hoggs met a firm trade, peaking at £74 for a pen of Texels from Dinwoodie Farms, Hollybush. 
On Tuesday, the company held a small sale of breeding cattle where 15 in-calf heifers levelled at £1232.86 and peaked at £1400 for Limousins from Turnberry. The 40 bulling heifers averaged £1030, having peaked at £1300.

Stirling (UA)
UNITED Auctions sold 800 store cattle and young bulls, last week, where a 337kg British Blue cross bullock from Low Pininver led the trade at 281.9p per kg. 
Bullocks (415) also reached £1440 for an Aberdeen-Angus cross weighing 801kg from Pathcondie, and cashed in to average 224.75p. 
Heifers averaged 221.54p for 320, having sold to 254p for a 315kg Charolaiscross from West Gormack, and £1400 for a 570kg Simmental cross from Neuk. 
A 483kg British Friesian cross from Clendrie topped the 40 black and white bullocks (which averaged 144.14p) at 167.7p and £810, while an Angus cross from Glenshochie led the 25 young bulls (which averaged 170.94p) at 219.3p and £1150.
Among the cast cows, it was a Simmental cross from Headshaw that led the way at 192.6p and £1470 as the 98 beef-bred cows cashed in to average 142393p. Seven dairy cows  averaged 116.64p. 
Also forward were 1157 store and breeding sheep. Breeders hit £124 for Texelcross ewes served by Texel and Cheviot sires from Killean Estate, while Texels from Green topped the store hoggs at £86.

A DEPLETED entry of store cattle saw all classes easily cashed at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of store cattle, last week, where 159 bullocks averaged 231.6p per kg with 181 heifers cashing in at 229.6p. 
Heifers were topped at 284.4p for a pair of 334kg Limousins from Uppermill, Kintore, as well as £1370 for a 606kg Limousin from South Crichie, St Katherines. 
Bullocks sold to 275.3p for a pair of 356kg Charolais from Coldhome, Dallas, and £1320 for a 624kg Limousin from Shevado Barn, Maud.  
Hoggs reached £87.50 as Texels from Rosebank, Twatt, led the 166 hoggs from the islands while the 135-strong mainland entry peaked at £85 for Texels from Mains of Allanbuie, Keith. 
Feeding sheep (641) sold to £129.50 for Suffolks from Mains of Lessk, Slains.

They reached £1175 for British Blue bullocks from Low Glasnick as 119  averaged 233.3p. Heifers (47) reached £1105 for Aberdeen-Angus from Auchencrieff and levelled at 199.4p.

ONLY a few store cattle vendors made it to Darlington Farmers’ Auction Mart, and those who did were handsomely rewarded with good prices.
 A dairy-bred British Blue bullock from T Sedgewick and Son, Hope House, led the trade at £1180, with heifers selling to £1090 from DJ Sleightholme and bulls to £1135 from E Parsons. 
Cast cows met a dearer trade as 54 averaged 149p per kg, having peaked at 205p for a British Blue cow from HS Hutchinson, White House, and £2071 for a Charolais from P and H Bainbridge, Moor House. 
Store hoggs were a plainer show, hitting a top of £103 for continentals from B Lowson, Podgehole Farm.

A SALE of 855 store, prime, breeding and feeding sheep was held at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ Quoybrae centre on Monday, where Half-breds from Hunster, Bower, topped the 329 store hoggs at £94. 
The 84 breeding sheep peaked at £84 for Cheviot grit ewes from the dispersal of 45 Laidnagullen, Strathy, while prime hoggs (149) reached 227p per kg for 37kg continentals from Westerloch, Wick, and £111 for 50kg Texels from Brae Edge, Castletown. 
Cheviots from Hunster also topped the 293 cast sheep at £115.

Ballymena
A SMALLER sale of store sheep at Ballymena Livestock Market met a sharper trade on Monday, as breeding sheep sold to £172 for a pair of Suffolk ewes with three lambs between them from Wilson Carson, Cloughmills. 
In-lamb females reached £144 for Texel ewes from Alan Shiels, Kilrea, while store hoggs sold to £95 for a pair of Texels from M Marshall, Clough. 
Of the 150 store cattle sold on Tuesday, bullocks reached £1320 for a 610kg Charolais from S Gowdy, Carrickfergus, with heifers to £1100 for a 550kg Simmental from S Taylor, Ligoniel. 

Lockerbie
DEMAND was strong for all classes due to a smaller entry of store cattle at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale. 
Heifers led the gross trade at £1195 for a pen of Limousins from Messrs Wilson, Reddings, which also realised 249.5p per kg, while bullocks were topped by Limousins from Messrs Ewart, Belridding, at £1140 and 276.3p.
