HEADING up United Auctions' show and sale of Blackface store lambs at Stirling, on Monday, was the champion pen from Messrs Bennie, Merkins, which had 42 in it and later sold to Messrs Braes, Burnshot, for £67 to top the Blackie entry.

Of the 9182 store lambs and feeding sheep on offer, Blackface lambs recorded the biggest increase on the week to average £42.49 (+£3.57 on the week) as the second prize pen from the Firm of Shawhead made £51.50 and the third prize pen from West Glenalmond Farms realised £51.

But it was Suffolks from Knowes that topped the trade at £80 with other breed averages including Mule, £59.07 (+£2.03); Suffolk cross, £64.28 (+£2.21); Texel cross, £63.36 (+£3.91); Beltex cross, £66.33 (-£3.04); Cheviot cross, £50.84 (-£2.67).
