TOP price at Hawes Auction Mart's annual two-day show and sale of 23,036 North of England Mule ewe lambs, was £350 paid for the first prize pen from Messrs Lord, West Dowgill, North Stainmore, which sold to Messrs Winter, Appleby.
The sale, which saw half of the lambs sold on the Monday average £79.99, and the other half on the Tuesday level at £77.63, resulted in an overall average of £79.06 which is back £21.07 on the year for 2224 less.
Second top price was £280 for the first prize pen of lambs on the Tuesday from Neil Marston, Highberries, Cockermouth, which were knocked down to Henry Tustian, Banbury, Oxfordshire.
