BRITISH Blondes being dispersed from Ian Calderbank's Blackwater herd, topped the breed society's Autumn sale at Worcester, last week, when a four-year-old cow sold for 4000gns.
Blackwater Lettilly, a daughter of the imported bull Anis, out of Blackwater Etilly, sold with her Armais-sired bull calf at foot to CW Shentton, Cheshire. The same buyer went to 2100gns for Blackwater Laresa, another four-year-old cow with bull calf at foot.
A ten-year-old Blackwater Etilly dam of the 4000gns Letilly also sold with her bull calf for 3450gns to M Reynolds, Chesham, while Blackwater Maple, a Blackwater Heston daughter, and her bull calf, made 2900gns to T Atkinson, Ulverston, Cumbria.
On the same day, the Hackleton dispersal peaked at 2400gns for Hackleton Latte, a four-year-old daughter of Hackleton Vixen, which is a twice National breed champion winner and stood inter-breed champion at the Three Counties Show twice. T Atkinson also forked out the cash for her and her heifer calf.
GE Jones, Ellesmere, Shropshire, paid 1900gns for Hackleton's maiden heifer by Budore Utah – a bull which sired this year's breed champion at the Balmoral Show, Hackleton Mosaic.
