A record price for a pen of Blackface ewe hoggs was achieved at United Auctions' breeding sheep sale at Stirling on Monday, selling at £2100 per head.
The pen of three from Hugh and Allan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk, sold in a two-way split to Messrs Flett and Junor of Blackpark and The Dell respectively.
In all some 6783 breeding sheep were forward which saw the Wight family from Townfoot, Midlock sell the top priced pen of Scotch Mule ewe hoggs at £150 twice of which both sold to Jim Ross, Romesbeoch.

Ewes with lambs at foot peaked at £220 twice for Mule and Texel cross hoggs from R McNee, Woodend.
Overall, averages slipped on the year in all sections with Mule ewe hoggs levelling out at £117.26 (-13.51); Texel ewe hoggs fell 40.49p to average £129.07; Cheviot ewe hoggs levelled at £90.47 (-17.44); Blackface ewe hoggs were back 30.57p at £112.26. Scotch Mule hoggs with lambs balanced out at £117.69 down by £14.02 on the year and Texel hoggs with lambs settled at £176.88, down £25.96p.
