Bullocks sold to the top at United Auctions' sale of 130 store cattle and 78 cast cows where a Charolais cross from Newpark sold at 236.80p, and to £1150 for a Limousin cross from Crookedstonemuir.

Heifers peaked at 218.60p for an Aberdeen-Angus cross from Whitecrook, and to £1050 for a Limousin cross from The Hill.

Bullocks and heifers levelled at 200.36p and 190.18p respectively.

Also forward was the annual show and sale of pedigree Zwartbles sheep. Leading the sale was a Ram lamb from C Anderson at 800gns selling to A Torbet, Whitecrook. Following on was a call of 650gns for a gimmer from Messrs Addison, Hayberries selling to A Bateman, Ivy House, Kendal.

Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sold 142 store cattle and 30 young calves also forward were 17 store and breeding sheep.

Bullocks averaged 198.8p and sold to 240p per kg for a 250kg Limousin cross from Calrossie, Tain and £1210 for a 672kg Simmental cross from Braeside.

Whilst heifers peaked at 209.2p for a pen of four 282kg Limousin’s from Calrossie and £1050 for a 566kg Simmental cross from Drumnacroy, Portmahomack, to level at 183.8p.

Simmental crosses topped the bulls at 175.1p and £1200 from Auchtertyre, Elgin and Selbie,

Keithhall respectively.

Newton of Balquhain, Pitcaple topped the store lambs at £77.50 for a pen of Suffolks.

All classes met a steady trade at Penrith and District Farmers' marts fortnightly sale of 100 store cattle.

Trade peaked at £1125 for a twelve-month-old British Blue bullock from Messrs JB Holliday and Sons, Town Head whilst heifers sold to £965 for a Blonde from Hollins.

Heifers led the way at Caledonian marts' sale of 142 store cattle selling to 216p for a Limousin from W J Nisbet, Bogside, Langbank and to £1120 for the same breed from A and J Orr, Hill O Harthill, Harthill.

Heifers and bullocks averaged 188p and 194p respectively. Messrs Kinloch, Walton, Cardross topped the bullocks at 208p and £1100 for a Charolais and Limousin respectively.

Black and Whites sold to 149p and £720 from A H S Drummond, Glenside, Stranraer.

A Limousin heifer with bull calf topped the sale at £2500 from Pennymore, with the same breed leading the way in the cows and calves at £1500 from Auchenairney.
