A buoyant demand was seen at Harrison and Hetheringtons weekly sale of 568 cattle, selling to £1280 for a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle.

Bullocks sold to £1185 for a Limousin from Newtown. Weaned cattle peaked at £1045 for a bull of the same breed from Messrs Thomlinson, Park View, Scaleby. Limousins topped both the heifers and steers at £940 and £935 respectively from Blackrigg and Park View respectively.

Bullocks averaged at 198.16p whilst heifers levelled at 193.40p, peaking at 2230.0 for a Blonde cross from Gateside and £1030 for a Limousin cross from Auchnotteroch.

Messrs Brown, Amerside Law, Wooler led the way in the breeding cattle at £1460 for a British Blue cross third calver with an Aberdeen-Angus cross bull calf at foot.

The opening sale for store lambs had an increased entry of 822 head selling to £76 for a Texel cross from Armonside.
