Scottish breeder Andrew Wainwright, Cupar, was rewarded for his long trip south to the Beltex Sheep Society’s new sale at Leek Auction Mart, when he produced the lead priced lot at 880gns.

The sale, which was replacing the previous event staged at Beeston Auction Mart was led by Todhall Diesel a shearling ram sired by the 3800gns Rathbone Alien, out of the Kingledores Warrior daughter, Rathbone Brandy. Diesel sold to Messrs Brassington and Renshaw.

The female and reserve supreme at the pre-sale show sold to the second top price of 860gns for Andrew and Claire Wood, Whittingham, Preston. Their gimmer, Withy Trees Double Dutch ET, is a daughter of Broxty Boxer, out of the Clary Prankster-sired Woodies Wriggley. She went home with Tom and Jack Belfied for their Boothlow flock at Sheen, Buxton.

The male and supreme champion, Cromwell Diago ET, from Adam Neachell, Aldridge, Staffs, realised 800gns. His pedigree features Airyolland Baltic on to the Clary Profitable-sired Cromwell Sierra and sold to the judge, Heulwen Owens, buying for his Glantre flock from Llandysul.
