The champion was awarded to a Limousin cross bullock from Tormitchell at Craig Wilson's, Ayr, sale of 286 calves at their annual show and sale, which later realised £1650.

Overall calves were 14kg heavier on the year and were up £25.26 per head where bullocks and heifers averaged 246.7p and 234.8p respectively.

Top price of the day was £1850 and 672.7p for an unshown British Blue cross heifer from Scart whilst bullocks peaked at £1350 and 473.7p for a Limousin from David Cook.

Also forward were 620 store lambs which peaked at £65.50 for Texel's from R McNaughton, West Mains.
