Some 689 cattle were forward for C and D auction marts' fortnightly sale of store cattle and suckled calves in Dumfries.

The pre-sale show saw a British Blue heifer from Neil Shuttleworth, Drumburn, awarded the best individual animal which later realised £930.

The best pen of Limousin bullocks from A and M Fitzsimmon, Tregallon achieved £830. Among the 277 spring born calves the bullocks and heifers averaged 230.3p and 206.3p respectively.

Charolais bullocks from East Kirkcarswell sold to 287.7p whilst heifers peaked at 320.7p for British Blues from Drumburn.

Among the 412 store cattle, bullocks and heifers levelled at 186.2p and 180.3p respectively.

Bullocks sold to 227p and £1085 from Low Glasnick whilst heifers topped at 218.3p and £1130 from Craigend.
