A British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Hamilton, Bee Edge, secured the overall championship at Harrison and Hetherington's annual Christmas show and sale of prime cattle and weekly sale of sheep at St Boswells on Monday.

It later sold for 380p per kg to Coq and Bull Butchers, Edinburgh.

The judge, J Robertson, Glengyle, Eskbank, who was selecting the winners from a show of 41 cattle found his reserve in a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Neil, Upper Nisbet, scaling at 552kg, which made 330p to Anderson Butchers, North Berwick.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 208p and 234p respectively.

Lambs levelled at 185.85p (2.85p on the week) selling to £105 and 250p per kg for Beltex lambs from Threeburnford.

Top price amongst the ewes was £117 for Suffolks from Oxmuir.
