Some 1306 prime and cast sheep were forward for Craig Wilson’s sale, where 912 prime hoggs sold to average 213.2p with an SQQ of 220.3p.

A top price of £110 was achieved on three occasions, all from M MacTaggart, Dunlop, and 229.3p was paid for Beltex from A Wright, Pinmore Mains.

Wedder hoggs averaged 218.2p or £92.67 for 309 sold. Top price per head of £104 was achieved by J Mitchell and Son, Little Larg, with Garheugh Farm Partnership topping at 221.9p.

Topping the ewes was Texels from G Milroy, Mains of Machermore, selling to £148.

Forfar

A smaller entry for Lawrie and Symington’s prime sale saw 31 cattle and 699 prime sheep and cast ewes and rams forward.

Bullocks (7) sold to 239p and £1491.12 both for Limousins from Nethermyres, to level at 204p.

Nethermyres also topped the entry of 24 heifers, selling to 260p and £1456.84, to average 219p.

An entry of 590 prime hoggs sold to 288.1p for Beltex from Shandford and to £123 for Beltex from Torrax, to balance out at 240.1p with an SQQ of 232.2p.

Ewes met a steady trade, peaking at £128 for Suffolk from Little Herdhill with tups topping at £113 for Texels from Glensaugh.

Dumfries

The weekly sale at C and D saw 49 cattle, 1182 prime sheep and 343 cast ewes and rams forward.

Prime cattle sold to 226p for a Limousin cross heifer from J Jardine, Yett.

Hoggs remained a steady trade, peaking at £118 for Texels from Townfoot, to level at 232.3p.Feeding hoggs were in higher demand, topping at £86 for Texels from Farhills, whilst cast ewes sold to £175 for Texels from Townfoot and rams to £149.50 for Texels from Drumpark.

Stirling (UA)

Some 6637 prime sheep comprising of 4933 prime hoggs and 1704 ewes and rams.

Old season lambs averaged 230.53p, selling to £133 for Beltex from Easter Ochtermuthill and to 293p for Beltex from Doune Farms.

Texels from Dalchirla topped the ewes selling to £187 while tups were topped at £163 for Bluefaced Leicesters from Backhills.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts had forward 65 prime cattle and 4641 prime sheep and feeding ewes and rams, where eight prime bullocks averaged 197.4p (+10.2p), selling to 217p for a 580kg Charolais from Cairncoullie, Glenkindie, and to £1333 for a 620kg Limousin from Roselea, Fetternear.

Charolais from Cairncoullie dominated the prime heifers (47), peaking at 219p for a 560kg Charolais and £1345.40, to level at 199.8p (+1.5p).

Old season lambs (3949) averaged 233p (-0.4p) and sold to 600p and £300 for 50kg Beltex from Woolhillock, Skene, while ewes peaked at £193 twice, firstly for Texels from Braeside Croft, Oldwhat and then for Beltex from Largue Cottages, Forgue, with the entire ewe sale averaging £101.26.

St Boswells

Averages were up on the week at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of prime stock, where bullocks and heifers levelled at 212p and 220p, respectively.

Cast cows (70) hit a top of £1453.50 and 183p from Humebyres, whilst clean cattle were topped at £1416.96 and 246p from Bee Edge.

The entry of 1788 prime hoggs sold to £144 for Texels from Threepwood and to 330.8p for Beltex from Waterside, to average 230p (-12p on the week).

Top price of the day at £155 was achieved by Suffolk from Oxmuir.

Lanark

More than 100 cattle were forward at Lawrie and Symington’s primestock sale, where prime cattle sold to 250p for a Limousin heifer from Brockwoodlees, Canonbie, with bullocks to 234p for a Limousin from Greenshields, Carnwath.

Greenshields produced the top priced lots per head with bullocks to £1620 and heifers to £1683.

Prime hoggs met a fast trade and were topped at £141 for Beltex from Baillie, Carstairs Mains, and to 306p for Texels from Ferguson, Gillandersland, where the overall average was 239p with an SQQ of 243p.

Ewes hit a new centre record, selling to £206 for Texels from K Wight, Midlock.

Ayr

Some 2081 sheep comprising 1608 prime hoggs and 473 cast ewes and tups were forward at Craig Wilson’s sale, where prime hoggs were topped at £136 for a pen of Beltex from J Hodge, Dykes, and to 297.6p for Beltex from J Cousar, Howcommon.

The hoggs averaged out at 233.4p, with an SQQ of 241.9p being achieved.

Prime cattle sold to 223p and £1343.10 for different Limousin heifers from High Gameshill.

Beef cattle (45) averaged 124.8p selling to £1330 for a Simmental from South Milmain and to 145.5p for a Saler from Auchneight.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 15 prime cattle where heifers (13) averaged 203.1p (+3.2p) selling to 220.0p for a 585kg Limousin cross from Braelangwell, Balblair, and to £1314.45 for a 635kg Limousin cross also from Braelangwell, Balblair.

Old season lambs (1577) hit a top price of 293.2p and £129 for Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge, to cash in at 240.7p (+0.1p).

Feeding sheep peaked at £128 for a Texel ewe from Bunchrew, Inverness.

Castle Douglas

The sale of 1588 prime and cast sheep was held by Wallets Mart, where prime hoggs sold to average 232.1p with an SQQ of 235.2 being achieved.

Topping the trade at £130 was Suffolk from Mackilston, Dalry, and to 254.5p for a pen of Texels from Galtway, Kirkcudbright.
