Bullocks peaked at 279.20p for a 240kg Limousin cross from Wardpark, and to £1260 for more of the same from Broompark.

Limousin crosses from Crosshouse, topped the young bulls at 236.40p and to £1065 for a Luing cross from Craigdarroch, to level at 202.28p.

On Saturday, the firm sold 213 beef breeding heifers with calves, which sold to £3650 for a Black Poll heifer with heifer calf at foot from The Ross.

A buoyant demand was again met at Craig Wilson's sale of 161 breeding hoggs, ewes and gimmers, where trade peaked at £240 for Texel cross ewes with twin lambs from H Dunlop, Holehouse.

The same home also sold a gimmer with a Beltex lamb for £204. Suffolk ewes with twin lambs peaked at £222 from Riddet, Gowanlea.

The firm also sold 118 beef breeding cattle to a top of £2500 for a Limousin heifer with her bull calf from Ballycurrie.

All classes were dearer on the week at Aberdeen and Northern Marts weekly store cattle sale, where bullocks (594) and heifers (623) averaged 223p per kg and 215.3p respectively.

Topping the sale at 297.9p per kg was a 282kg Beef Shorthorn from Firva, Scousburgh, and to £1520 for 572kg Simmentals from Wallfield, Lochhills.

Bullocks attained 277.4p for 328kg Charolais from Heathercow, Eday, and to £1345 for a 730kg Limousin from Tomchulan, Enochdhu.

A 390kg Aberdeen-Angus from Braeside topped the 13 young bulls reaching 215.4p, while £1080 was paid for a 554kg Limousin from Greenbrae, Auchterless, to level at 202.2p.

On Monday, C and D Auction Marts' held their fortnightly sale of 271 store cattle, which saw a firmer trade for a plainer show.

Heifers sold to £1260 for Limousin crosses from Ballagan, and to 253p per kg for Salers from Glenlea.

Beef Shorthorns from Shawhill, topped the bullocks at £1250 and to 253.7p for Aberdeen-Angus from Shambellie Grange.

Among the bulls, trade peaked at £1000 for Limousins from Carsegowan, and to 226.5p for British Blues from Backburn.

A buoyant demand was met at Caledonian Marts' fortnightly sale of 356 store cattle, where bullocks and heifers averaged 214p per kg and 211p respectively.

Topping the pence per kg at 282p were Limousin bullocks from A MacLarty, The Homesteads, Lochgilphead. Three lots sold to £1180, from J Crawford, Reivoch, Renfrewshire; A Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie, and R Baird Cardenbarns, Cardenden.

Limousins from A MacLarty, The Homesteads, led the heifers at 247p, and top per head at £1190 was paid for an Aberdeen-Angus from J Gilmour and Son, Drumelzier, Denny.
