Some 518 prime and cast sheep were forward at Craig Wilson’s sale where 447 spring lambs averaged 230.9p per kg having sold to £111 for Suffolks from M Bodle, High Boreland.

Beltex from R Templeton, Carslae, topped the pence per kg section at 248.8p.

Ewes reached £90 for Suffolks from High Ersock while tups were topped at £95 for a Blue Texel from Quarry House.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington had forward 30 prime cattle and 293 sheep and cast ewes and rams at their weekly sale

Bullocks (8) sold to 238p and £1414.60 for a Limousin from Nethermyres, to average 224p.

Heifers (22) peaked at 256p for a 560kg Limousin from Gask, and to £1454.20 for a 661kg Limousin from Craignathro, to cash in at 229p.

New season lambs (191) hit a top price of 278p per kg for 46kg Texel from Gallaton and to £130 for a 47kg cross lamb from Broadshade, to level at 231p.

The 31 cast ewes and rams were topped at £110 by a Texel ram from Glensaugh.

Dumfries

Some 50 cattle were forward for C and D Auction Marts’ weekly sale, where prime cattle sold to 240p for a Limousin heifer from J Jardine, Yett.

The sale of 688 prime sheep saw spring lambs (524) sell to £112 for Texels from Skipmyre.

Cast ewes (164) were easier on the week, being topped at £115 for Suffolks from Netherhall, while rams peaked at £124 for Texels from Glenlaugh.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 843 prime sheep at their weekly sale, where new season lambs (136) averaged 237.84p having sold to 250p for 45kg Charollais crosses from Morayscairn, Alves, and to £117 for 48.1kg Texels from Meikle Begshill, Drumblade.

Old season lambs (102) peaked at 188p for 48kg Texels from Daies, Wardhouse and to £96 for 64kg Texels from Parrock, Rothiemay.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 68 prime cattle to average 213p per kg.

Heifers sold to 230p for a Limousin cross from J and J Watt, Stoneyhill, and to £1540.80 for a Limousin cross from Cornhill.

Bullocks peaked at £1522.50 for a Charolais cross from Nether Mains, and to 217p on four occasions – Simmental crosses from North Cairnhigh and New Pitsligo and for Limousins from Whiteside, Tullynessle and Faichfolds.

The seven young bulls peaked at 197p for a Limousin cross from Messrs Ross and Co, Coralhill.

New season lambs (421) averaged 225.8p (-2.6p) having sold to 250p for Texels from Milltown of Birness, Ellon, and to £118 for Texels from Bogiefeulach, Tornaveen.

Old season lambs (148) sold to 178.6p for continentals from Cowes House, Stronsay and to £100 for Texels from Collieston, Fordoun.

Feeding ewes and rams (278) reached a top of £145 for Texel ewes from Wood Cottages, Kingseat.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington’s weekly sale saw bullocks (45) and heifers (50) average 211p per kg(n/c) and 217p (+3p) respectively.

Top prices were £1425.38 from Venchen, and 236p per kg from Bee Edge.

Cast cattle sold to £1471.80 from Kersknowe and to 197p from Kedzlie.

Spring lambs (868) averaged 221.4p having reached a top of £124 for Suffolks from Belmont and to 245.5p per kg for Texels from The Knock.

Hoggs (98) met a steady trade selling to £123 for Texels from Legars, while ewes peaked at £117 for Suffolks from Smailholm Mains, to average £78.

Lanark

More than 130 head of cattle comprising of 39 bullocks and heifers and 93 cast cattle were forward for Lawrie and Symington’s sale.

Top price per kg amongst the heifers was 260p or £1493 per head paid for a Limousin from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie.

Bullocks peaked at 236p for a Limousin from Messrs Cook, Kinneil Mill, Linlithgow, and to £1415 for another of the same from Faskine.

Spring lambs (514) were topped at £125 for Suffolks from Messrs Frame, Birks and to 265p for Beltex from Messrs Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill, to level at 215p with an SQQ of 215.5p.

Prime hoggs sold to £95 for Texels from Scotstounbank.

Ayr

Some 802 spring lambs and 316 cast ewes, tups and hoggs were sold through Craig Wilson on Monday, where spring lambs averaged 216.9p.

Top price was £112 paid for Suffolk crosses from A McMillan, Burnbank or 243.9p for Beltex crosses from Brian Notman, Redding.

Hoggs peaked at £83.50 for Charollais crosses from Messrs Barr, Bonnyton Moor.

Cast sheep sold to £157.50 for Texels from H McPhee, North Lodge.

On Tuesday, the firm sold 154 prime and cast cattle where heifers (14) averaged 229.8p having sold to 249p or £1381.95 for a Limousin cross from North Boig.

Beef cows (48) averaged 127.4p and sold to £1450 for a Charolais from Woolfords and 171.9p for a Limousin from Girvan Mains.

Dingwall

Bullocks and heifers averaged much the same at Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale where the former levelled at 216.3p having sold to 227p per kg for a 510kg Limousin cross from Raffin, Tore and to £1309.80 for a 590kg Limousin cross also from Raffin.

Heifers (seven) cashed in at 216.5p from a top of 226.0p for a 560kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, and to £1471.50 for a 675kg Charolais cross from Easter Sheep Park, Balblair.

New season lambs (37) reached 238.7p per kg and £111 per head for 46.5kg Texel crosses from Meikle Ussie, Dingwall, to level at 208.4p.

The entry of 51 old season lambs (51) averaged 127.3p having sold to 155.8p for 43kg Cheviots from Balnabeen, Conon Bridge, and £70 per had for 45.5kg Texel crosses from Ardnamurchan Estate, Kilchoan.

The overall sale averaged 172.3p per kg (-64.2p on the week).

Feeding sheep (143) sold to £130 for a Texel ewe from New House, Muir of Ord.

Castle Douglas

Wallets Marts had forward 689 prime and cast sheep at their weekly sale on Tuesday, where 622 spring lambs sold to average 221.31 with an SQQ of 223.11p per kg.

Lambs sold to £107 for Beltex from Gelston Castle Farms, Castle Douglas, and to 265p per kg for Texels from Messrs Wilson, West Barmoffity, Kirkpatrick Durham.

Cast sheep peaked at £115 for a Suffolk ram from Halmyre.

Top price amongst the ewes was £105 per head for a Beltex from Corra.
