The Clark family enjoyed the best of the day’s trading at the Summer Sensations sale of 25 Texel females, held through Harrison and Hetherington’s online timed auction, selling the lead priced lot at £6000.

The family who run three flocks - Clarks, Garngour and Teiglum - from three Lanarkshire farms, sold their best, a gimmer by the 2019 Sire of the Year, Knock Bantastic, from the Teiglum flock, based at Blackhill Farm, Crossford, Carluke.

She is out of a home-bred ewe by Mossvale Winston, and is from the same female line as the 60,000gns Teiglum Tornado and 70,000gns Teligum Young Gun – two former top priced rams at the breed sale at Lanark.

The stylish gimmer found a new home with Nick Legge and family, of the Thornbury flock, Hetfield, Leominster, Herefordshire.

Another gimmer sired by Knock Bantastic from the same home, attained £2950, selling to J and K Ayrton, Thurnham, Lancaster.

She is out of a Knock Yardsman-sired ewe, and is a full sister to the 12,000gns Teiglum Charmer and 5000gns Garngour Cloud Nine, whilst her dam is full sister to the 40,000gns Garngour Alabama.

Messrs Surtees, Stodday Village, Lancaster, also bought from the Teiglum flock, at £2050.

Another with the same genetics as the previous lot, she is bred from the reserve champion at the Great Yorkshire Show last year which was also champion at Lesmahagow Show in 2018 as a ewe lamb.

Second top price was £3000 paid for the best from Keith, Allan and Roy Campbell’s Cowal flock from Drimsynie, Lochgoilhead.

This Auldhouseburn Boss-sired gimmer is out of a home-bred ewe by Claybury Yosemite, and headed south with Messrs Huddart, Hensingham, Whitehaven, Cumbria.

Catalogue No 1 from David Preacher of the Holyee flock, Walkerburn, Peebles, sold next at £2850 across the Irish sea to Messrs Donohoe, Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.

This gimmer is a daughter of Knap Bartock and out of a Plasucha-bred female by Eden Valley Wiz Kid that was purchased at Lanark as a gimmer.

A Knap gimmer from Robert Cockburn, Hill of Errol, Perth, made £2300 selling to Messrs Cochran, Darwen, Lancashire.

A daughter of the 20,000gns Knock Travis, she is out of an Ettrick Rainbow Warrior-sired home-bred ewe, that has bred daughters to 9000gns, and sons to 5200gns.

Selling for the same money was a gimmer from Robbie Wilson’s Milnbank flock from North Dorlaithers, Turriff.

She is by the 60,000gns Strathbogie Yes Sir and out of an Aman Vyrnwy-sired ewe. The gimmer which is a maternal sister to the 7000gns Milnbank Brooklyn, sold down to Penicuik with Messrs Brown, Lothian.

The same buyers also went to £2200 for a Milnbank gimmer, this time by the 28,000gns Cowal Bucking Bronco. Her dam, a home-bred ewe is an ET sister to the 8000gns Milnbank Womaniser and is sired by Glenside Valhalla.

Mr Wilson was back in the money, selling a gimmer by the 40,000gns Garngour Alabama, for £2250. The breeding on the dam side of this transaction was a home-bred ewe by Glenside Wild Boy. She headed home with SMB Farms, Dunning, Perth.
